"The day I changed was the day I quit trying to fit into a world that never really fit me" - JM Storm
On our second tee we’ve combined the blue collar writings of Southern based Poet JM Storm, and the oldest mountains of the world----The Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
JM, an accidental blue collar poet from the South, writes in a way that lets you know you can say "me too". Amassing over 400,000 followers, J. M. Storm is one of Instagram’s most popular Quotesman and his words are hand typed, raw, and relatable. JM never intended to be a poet nor did he ever grow up aspiring to be a writer, but inspired by our favorite (and first featured tee poet) @tylerknott , he began putting words to paper because he felt so deeply that it was the only way to let them go out into the world. We are glad that poetry found JM, and that JM found that old rusty typewriter-as his words let us know we all are worthy of giant sized love. JM just released a new book, In My Head---so hop on over to his page and grab yourself a copy. His words will be featured alongside the calming blue curves of the The Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
The Great Smoky Mountains were formed approximately 200-300 million years ago, making them the oldest mountains in the World! Talk about aging well! Established in 1934, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the largest national park East of the Rocky Mountains. It encompasses approximately 244,000 acres in Tennessee and 276,000 acres in North Carolina for a combined total of more than 800 miles. With approximately 9-10 million visitors annually, this park is the most visited national park in the United States. Known for its breathtaking golden hour scenes, and the warm Blue Mountains that are home to sections of the Appalachian Trail. Often called the “Crown Jewels of the Appalachian Mountains,” the Smokies were also referred to as the “Land of Blue Mist” by the Cherokees. Walking through and to the many trails and waterfalls of the “Smokies” you will be welcomed by the countless beautiful and colorful wildflowers that line the edges of trails and mountains. A visit in the fall will provide you with fire like tree lines that will surely light up your wanderlust. Rest assured, you will feel as if you found home over and over again as you explore the very ends of this great park.
JM Storms work echoes simplicity but depth, and we feel as if The Great Smoky National Park does the same. The beauty of these words, and the aging of these mountains is sure to remind you of the loveliness in cherishing the vintage, and appreciating the simple.
